After a 16-month renovation, the Columbus Metropolitan Library will finally open its doors. Amid the different festivities, “Six in the City: Columbus” will have its own installation to engage Columbus’s community in felicitating the library’s advancements. Join us in creating six word stories about Columbus, your life, and the library’s contribution to a stronger, smarter, and sophisticated Columbus community. Come prepared to think creatively, and what better place than the Columbus library—the now newly renovated community center, administrative of building ideas, imagination, and interactions.

September 17-18—Independents’ Day Festival
East Franklinton District
12pm—9pm

Columbus celebrates its creative community by showcasing an array of its artistic functions, such as live music performances, local arts, popular vendors, and tasty foods. This includes “Six in the City: Columbus”, which will share its artistic mission with the rest of this creatively engaged scene. We will also be acquiring six-word stories written by you—the Columbus community. A 2-day festival full of Columbus’s emblematic enthusiasm can inspire the community one six word story at a time. 

September 22—Workshop at Igloo Letterpress
Igloo Letterpress– Self Expression Workshop   
6pm—8pm

Called “on a quest to spark creativity in others” by Oprah Magazine, the Six-Word Memoirs inventor Larry Smith teaches a storytelling workshop at Igloo Letterpress to help you get to the heart of your story. First Larry will lead you through writing promps to guide you toward the wix word that get to the essence of who you are and what matters most in all or part of your life. Then, Igloo’s creative team will guide you through the simple and fun process of creating a poster with your own Six-Word Motto. you will only walk away with a tool that you’ll carry with you in every part of your life—from a first date to a wedding roast to a job interview—but an elegant creation to display your words. Each participant will create 4 copies of their poster.

Coming: Spring 2017!—Short North Temporary Mural Project

The Short North Alliance an Short North Arts District Galleries presents its fourth annual Temporary Mural Series: BLANK SPACES on the exterior brick sides of 19 buildings on High Street. Six-Word Memoirs will join this project along with the district’s art galleries and art institutions will transform blank spaces into beautiful works of art that have been inspired by Six-Word Columbus stories.
